Description

Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11

VirusScan? Enterprise + Anti-Spyware Module 8.0.0

-Scan Engine 5200

Error given: Detected as JS/Exploit-BO Trojan

This error started being given today, we've used jquery.js for several months with no issues. This error isn't given when using Firefox, only Internet Explorer 7. The jquery.js file seems to be the only jquery file that causes this error. Isolated it this file by removing all other scripts from page. If this file is included on page this error will be thrown, even if no function calls are made.

With the new update (available now) of the virus definition list, the problem was solved with Mc-Afee Security Center.

Problem occurred with DAT version 1597.0000 (2007/01/02) Problem should be solved with DAT version 1598.0000 (2007/01/03)

I think this was more to do with packer than jquery, if you unpack your jquery file no alert is thrown.

  • status changed from new to closed
  • resolution set to invalid

Yeah, this is a packer issue. For now, all we can recommend doing is to not use the packed version of jQuery, at least until Mcafee resolves this issue.
